When the work is done, generate the invoice from the iPad, get the signature, and either record the payment on the spot or send the customer a payment link.
Generate the invoice
From the job page on the iPad:
- + Invoice (or open the auto-generated draft).
- The invoice inherits the job's line items, customer, and tax.
- Review the totals.
- Adjust if needed.
Send to the customer
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Tap Send. |
| 2 | Pick channel — SMS link, email, or both. |
| 3 | Customer gets the link and pays at their own pace. |
This is the path most tech-customer interactions use: send the link, customer pays from their phone (or laptop) at the end of the visit.
Collect payment on-site (optional)
If the customer wants to pay right now and they're handing you cash or a check (or paying via their own merchant card while you watch):
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Tap Record payment. |
| 2 | Pick the method — Cash, Check, or Card (manual). |
| 3 | Enter the amount. |
| 4 | If they're paying part now and the rest via link, Split payment lets you record the partial and leave the balance open. |
The Card option records that the customer paid you by card on-site (with their own merchant card or POS device). It does NOT charge their card through Stripe; there's no in-app card reader.
Customer signature
After recording payment (or in lieu of payment if they're paying later):
- Tap Get signature.
- Customer signs on glass.
- The signature is attached to the invoice and saved.
Email a receipt
Once the customer signs and pays (or pays the link), they get an email receipt automatically.
What's NOT supported today
- In-app card charging via Stripe at the customer's home — use the payment link instead.
- Sending the PDF as an attachment from the iPad — the link-based flow is preferred; the customer can download the PDF from the link if they want.
- Editing invoices after they're sent — open the invoice on the web app to edit, then resend.
