Run a Call collects payments via Stripe — card, ACH, Apple Pay, Google Pay — plus offline methods (cash, check, paper ACH) you record by hand. This article covers how the pieces fit together.

The payment flow

  1. Invoice sent — customer gets a payment link.
  2. Customer pays — on the link, in the field, or by phone.
  3. Payment recorded on the invoice.
  4. Invoice flips to Paid (or Partially paid).
  5. Stripe deposits the money to your bank in 2 business days (default).
  6. Run a Call syncs the payment to QuickBooks Online (if connected).

Online payments — Stripe

Run a Call uses Stripe as the payment processor. Why Stripe:

BenefitDetail
Industry-standard ratesCompetitive fees with built-in dispute handling.
ACH supportLower fees, slower clearing.
Apple Pay and Google PayOut of the box.
Direct depositsMoney goes straight to your bank — Run a Call never holds it.

You connect Stripe once during onboarding — see Enabling online payments with Stripe. From then on, payments just work.

Offline payments

Cash, check, and paper ACH are recorded by hand on the invoice. They don't touch Stripe — they're a bookkeeping entry.

  1. Open the invoice.
  2. + Payment → pick Cash, Check, or Other.
  3. Enter the amount, the date, and an optional reference number.
  4. Save.

The invoice flips to Paid (or Partially paid). See Collecting cash and other offline payments.

Payments in the field

A tech can take a payment on the mobile app:

  • Card — typed in, or tapped (where supported).
  • ACH — entered by hand.
  • Cash/check — recorded for the office to deposit.

See Collecting payments on mobile.
