The mobile app builds estimates on the iPad while you're at the customer's home. Search the pricebook, add line items, present to the customer.

Start an estimate from the job

Open the job on the iPad, then + Estimate (or go to the existing estimate if one is attached). The estimate inherits the customer and property automatically.

Add line items

StepAction
1Tap + Item.
2Search the pricebook by name or filter by category.
3Tap an item to add it.
4Adjust quantity.
5(Optional) Override price for this estimate.
6Repeat.
Note

The search is fast — fuzzy matching on item name, capped at 200 results per query. Categories filter narrows the list.

Add custom line items (if needed)

If the customer wants something not in the pricebook:

  • + Item → Custom.
  • Type a name, price, quantity.
  • Save.
Tip

This adds a one-off line that doesn't create a permanent pricebook entry. Use sparingly — every custom item is one your reporting can't group.

Present and approve

StepAction
1Tap Preview to see what the customer will see.
2Hand them the iPad.
3Customer reviews, asks questions.
4Customer taps Approve and signs.

If you don't want to do sign-on-glass on the spot (customer's spouse needs to look at it first, say):

  • Tap Send.
  • Pick SMS, email, or both.
  • Customer gets the link to review and approve later.

What carries over

The estimate's line items, customer, and property feed into the job and invoice when it converts. No double entry.

What's NOT supported today

  • Multi-tier good/better/best presentation on the iPad is limited — bundles work but the side-by-side presenter view is best on desktop.
  • Live margin calculation as you build — cost and margin show on the office view, not the field view.
  • Customer signature without an estimate — signatures are always tied to an estimate or invoice or job, never standalone.
