There are four ways to put a tech on a job. Pick the one that matches the moment.
From the dispatch board (most common)
Open the Dispatch board. Drag the job card from the Unassigned strip to a tech's row at the time slot you want.

Drive time and skill checks happen automatically — you'll see a yellow warning if the assignment is risky (e.g. wrong skill, conflicts with another job).
From the job page
Open the job → Assignee dropdown → pick a tech. Use this when you want to assign without leaving the job (e.g. while on the phone with a customer).
From the New Job form
When creating a new job, fill in the Assignee field along with the schedule. This is the fastest path if you already know who's doing it.
Let Runny auto-assign
If you have a board full of unassigned jobs, click Balance day in the bottom strip. Runny respects skills, service areas, drive time, and time windows. See Letting Runny auto-assign.
Assigning multiple techs
For jobs that need a crew (e.g. an install with a helper):
- Open the job.
- Click + Add tech under the primary assignee.
- Choose a secondary tech.
Both show on the dispatch board for the same time slot.
What the tech sees
The moment you assign, the tech gets a push notification on the mobile app: New job assigned for Wed 1–3 PM. The job appears at the top of their My Jobs list.
