Common questions from technicians and office staff about the Run a Call mobile app.

Where do I get the app?

Search for Run a Call in the App Store (iPhone and iPad) or Google Play (Android). Sign in with the same email and password you use on the web. See Installing the Run a Call app on iPhone & iPad and Installing the Run a Call app on Android.

Why do I only see my own jobs?

Technicians see the jobs they're assigned to — as the lead tech or a helper — and the customers on those jobs. The full schedule, other customers, reports, and settings belong to the office. If you should see more, ask an owner or admin about your role. See Customizing team roles and permissions.

Does the app work without signal?

Yes, for your jobs today and tomorrow. You can move a job along (On My Way, Arrived on Site, Complete Job), add notes, photos, parts and labor, and fill in forms offline; changes send when you reconnect. Taking payments, invoicing, clocking in, and texting customers need a connection. See Working offline in the mobile app.

Can I make calls from the app?

Yes. Tap Call on a job. If your company has Run a Call Phone, you can choose Call from business line so the customer sees your company's number, or Call using my phone. See Calling customers from the app.

Can I take a card payment in the field?

If your office set up Tap to Pay, you can charge a card on your company's card reader right from the invoice. Without it, Card records a payment you already ran on your own terminal. Cash, check, Zelle, and split payments work either way. See Taking payments on mobile and Tap to Pay overview.

Does the app track my location?

The office can see where you are on the map while you're on your way to a job or working one (after On My Way and until the job is done). Allow location access when the app asks so the office sees accurate ETAs.

Why didn't the customer get my "On my way" text?

Likely causeWhat to check
Your company doesn't have texting set upTexts need the Messaging add-on and an approved texting registration. Ask the office.
The automation is offThe office controls this message on the Automations page. See The automatic 'on my way' text.
The customer opted outIf they replied STOP, they won't get texts until they reply START.
You were offlineThe status change is queued and sends when you reconnect.

What's Drive Mode?

Owners, admins, and anyone whose role uses both apps can switch the mobile app to the technician view — the same Jobs tab a tech sees — with Drive Mode. Technicians are always in that view.

Can I edit the pricebook from my phone?

Technicians search the pricebook and add items to jobs; changing the catalog itself is done by the office. You can adjust the price on a single line of a job or estimate when you need to. See Adding parts and labor on mobile.

I'm not getting notifications

Check that notifications are allowed for Run a Call in your phone's Settings app. If you turned them down when the app first asked, you'll need to turn them on there.
