Common questions about calling, texting, and phone numbers in Run a Call. Calling and texting are add-ons (Voice and Messaging); the AI Receptionist is a separate add-on. See Run a Call Phone overview.
Can I keep my existing business number?
Yes. Your current number can be moved (ported) to Run a Call so customers keep calling the number they know. Our team does this with you — there's no form in the app. Go to Settings → Support, click New request, and tell us which numbers you want to bring over and who provides them today. See Bringing your existing number to Run a Call.
How many phone numbers can I have?
The Voice add-on includes your primary number. You can add more numbers — tracking numbers for ads, a second location — for $2.50 each per month. Manage them in Settings → Phone → Numbers. See Getting a new phone number.
Are Run a Call numbers US numbers?
Yes. Numbers are US local numbers (toll-free numbers aren't offered), and each one needs a US street address for emergency (E911) calls when you set it up. See Setting up your E911 address.
Why aren't my texts reaching customers?
| Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|
| Your texting registration isn't approved yet | US carriers require businesses to register before texting customers. Check the status in Settings → Phone → Messaging. See Registering your business for A2P 10DLC. |
| The customer opted out | If they replied STOP, texts to them stop until they reply START. See How customers can opt out of texts. |
Can customers text me back?
Yes. Replies land in Conversations → Messages, in the thread with that customer. See Sending and receiving SMS.
What happens to calls nobody answers?
That depends on how your call flow is set up — calls can ring more people, go to the AI Receptionist, or go to voicemail. Missed calls and voicemails show up in Conversations → Calls, and you get a notification unless you've switched those alerts off. See Missed calls and voicemails.
How do I stop a spam caller?
Block the number. Open the call and block the caller, or add numbers yourself in Settings → Phone → Blocked with Block a number. If you use the AI Receptionist, it also filters spam calls — see Spam filtering and blocked numbers.
Can I record calls?
Yes. Recording is set per phone number — open the number in Settings → Phone → Numbers and turn on Record calls. Recordings play back from the call in Conversations → Calls. Check your state's consent rules first. See Recording calls.
Can my techs answer calls on their phones?
Techs can call and text customers from a job in the mobile app. See Calling customers from the app. Office staff answer incoming calls in the web app — turn on Available for calls on your profile to get the incoming call popup.
